I was curious about and recenty acquired a Spyderco P'kal. It's my understanding that the small steel rod that's described as the "wave feature" is removable. I think it unscrews, but I haven't been able to turn it. I don't want to 'bugger up" the small rod by using pliers, but I'm not sure how else to remove it. I've tried using a variety of synthetic "grabbers" and clamps, but nothing I have holds tight enough. Any ideas?

I used small needlenose pliers wrapped in masking tape.

Didn't mar anything and it came right out.

I think there's a bit of thread locking adhesive, so you do need a bit of force.

Good luck.

I used one of those rubber things that assists in getting the tops off jars. And a pair of vicegrips. Popped right out.

I used pliers with wrapping also. I've since stopped using the wrapping -- the pin seems very hard, I haven't gauged it even using the pliers on it bare.

Needlenose and tape would'nt work with me also,it was screwed on so tight. Then I tries pliers and tape and finially got it unscrewed.
