Rescaling a 701

Posted a while back about finding a 701 but passing on it as it was a little rough and was missing a corner on one of the scales. Was just thinking about that and while I realize I could easily work with Leroy on restoring it or possibly shipping it back to Buck was also wondering how hard it would be to try it myself?

I've got some 1/2" x 2" x 18" slabs of walnut with some nice figure in it that I'm planning on using to scale a batch of Spyderco Mule Teams. Those are pretty easy but something like the 701 I don't have a clue on how to do? Any thoughts or tips would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Badhammer I am curious about this also, as I have one that looks like someone rehandled it, and the wood is warpping now. I have been thinking of sending it to Leroy to see what he can do with it, as I have some different types of wood that should work on it. HL

Hammer, I'd do a few others before attempting that one. Your call. For those that can't send them to Leroy, they should just go ahead and do them. DM
