I saw Joyce demonstarte this at bladhow. To restore the point you can use the sharpener stoves and put the point in the fishhook groove then pull the stone from spine to edge at about a 30 degree angle.

Anybody tried this?

I've done this, and it works, but never considered that there is a prefered angle to use. I think the proper angle is going to vary depending on the profile of the blade, and how much of the tip was broken off.

That does sound nice. It seems like there's no way to maintain a tip that has been used at all with a sharpmaker because the tip can slip off if you're not careful and it can only be sharpened during the flat processes.

Is this referring to a broken off tip, or a tip that has become dull after sliding off the Sharpmaker stones?
