Personally, I prefer the design, aesthetic look and functionality of the 940. But I'm sure the 960 is a great knife and it was a nice review.

Great photography! If I could pick one up I would, but I just bought another GB and a manix. Enjoy yours though, I love the Benchmade and Osborne collaborations.

Cool pictures!
Nice review. Many people like 960 but not everybody has got it yet. I think I got much closer to buying one.

Good review, thanks.
Perhaps one day I'll get one, I've always wanted one.
The thing for me is that I live in Californica at the moment - tons of panzy laws.
I have a few benchmades but won't EDC them here because if a LEO is more concerned about obscure technicalities than the spirit of the law I'll be up a stinky creek without a respirator.

Gotta move to a state that thinks that criminals are criminals...

Termiteslayer - California knife laws are actually better than many other states. Which Benchmades are you worried about? Most should be no problem to carry unless you are in a jurisdiction where there is a blade length limit (for example, Los Angeles).

Good review, RJ. I had thre 960, but never really took a liking to the blade shape. So I sold them. I still have my 940's though!

Most cops I've asked here are clueless about knife laws. Some have said BM's are gravity knives and a probable trip to a cage.
Why even risk it here in huggy land?

That's unfortunate. :( My wife and I love to visit CA, but would never live there. :D

Good review. I sold mine, unfortunately. It's not a small knife by any means, but it felt small in my hands. It just wasn't something I wanted to carry. And I didn't (and still don't) need any more safe queens. But it did leave an impression...that of being extremely smooth when opening. So smooth that I decided to get a 940 a while back. The 960 looks a little better, but the 940 series is where it's at.

Really? So you think the 940 is smoother/better? How so?

Just an opinion here... but, 940 has more handle length which makes it more comfortable even for my small hands.

Like others here, I had the BM 940 before I bought my (blue) 960. I carried the 960 a couple days, then put it back in the box and went back to carrying the Benchmade 940.

My EDC knives consist of a BM 940, a Ritter Grip (RSK Mk 1) and a recently purchased Benchmade 710 in M390. I would go to a BM 960 and mini RSK in a heartbeat if knife laws forced me below a 3" blade length.

Nice Review. I have had this knife for 3-4 years and I use it when I dress up. (for me that's no jeans) Smoothest opening knife that I have and came hair popping sharp. Love D2 steel as this was one of the reasons for the purchase. A classy knife for EDC.
