I had the chance to play with a few really cool toys from Multitasker tools over the past few weeks and wanted to give a little perspective.

I picked up the AR Multitasker, their full sized, AR-15 specific multitool along with their newest offering, the TUBE (more on that later).

The AR Multitasker is a big, full sized multi loaded out with a lot of unique tools that make working with the AR-15 a lot easier. Now I’m new to the AR world, having only built my rifle over the last year and I’ve never really had a lot of the tools offered on the Multitasker in full sized form so I’m not the best to judge or compare them but I do know how the multitool functions on it’s own.

First up, the heart of any proper multi, the plier head. The heads on the Multitasker are, no joke, the best I’ve seen on any multi I’ve owned. CNC machined out of D2 tool steel, they are perfect in every facet. The knurling on the face is flawless and intermeshes with the opposing side perfectly. Coated with some newfangled process called Melonite, I’ve yet to scratch them.

The array of tools is great for their intended purpose but you’ll find them lacking a bit for typical, EDC carry. They include: a castle nut wrench for M4-type collapsible carbine stocks, an adjustment tool for four-prong A2-type front sights, and a 3⁄8" box wrench for accessory mounts from LaRue Tactical and others. You also get an angled carbon scraper with radiused tip, file with 5⁄16" flat-blade screwdriver, 2½" Tanto-style 440C stainless steel blade with liner lock, wire cutter, a bit driver with 10 interchangeable ¼" drive bits, and a steel dental pick/scraper with 8-32 threaded male connector that can integrate with an Otis pull-cable cleaning kit (not included). Comes with 2 slot-head, 1 Phillips, and 5 hex-head bit tips, plus T10 and T15 Torx® head bits. Magnetic drive-socket ensures bits stay securely in place.

The sight adjustment tool fits into the screwdriver adapter and pulls out easily but is held secure with a magnet, nice feature. I really like the full sized bit capability. It takes up a lot of space of course but the folks at Multitasker made really good use of the real estate with the sight tool included.

The fit and finish and the function are all flawless and the build quality is amazing. I’m really looking forward to a EDC type tool from them.

As I mentioned, this is a big tool. It’s on par with the Leatherman Surge as far as size is concerned but that size comes in handy when you need the leverage to break a bolt or castle nut free and trust me, this tool can take it.

Here compared to a Leatherman Charge.

Overall, I’m very happy with the tool. It lives in my gun case and has helped out and saved the day on more than one occasion. Two thumbs up!

Here’s a link to another review with much better pics than I can take.

Next up….The TUBE…..

The TUBE is another cool toy that I LOVE! I ended up carrying this in my EDC bag and use it just about daily.

It includes a handy, dandy dental pick, a carbon scraper and a sight adjustment tool that also fits the AR Multitasker. Again, I love the full sized bit compatibility that allows me to add and expand the kit to better suit my needs. The cap includes a pin punch on the tip and a pocket clip that doubles as a flat head screwdriver.

The expansion kit is also available separately and includes a nicely made clamshell case and a bit set. Add an OTIS flexible cleaning rod, some patches and a bottle of lube and cleaning fluid and you have a great grab and go kit for the range.

Again, fit and finish and function are perfect. Another great tool for the AR lover in all of us.
