Just noticed a Great Eastern Muskrat in rhubarb Acrylic. Pretty cool looking and it brings back a great memory to me. When I was in college in South Dakota, I met a sweet lady named Phillis. We both worked part-time at Lewis Drug Store in Huron. The store Manager, Helen, held birthday lunches about once a month at the store. Phillis would bring rhubarb crunch. She had rhubarb growing in her yard. Man, that stuff was great! I had never heard of or had rhubarb prior to that. I haven't had it since either. I'm going to get one of those Muskrats in rhubarb just for the great memory! When I see the knife it will alway make me think of those good times.

Rhubarb anything is awesome. Rhubarb to desserts are what slipjoints are to the knife world. Traditional, old-tymey, not well-understood by lots of folk, immedietely loved after trying it.
I may have to dig out one of my wife's rhubarb crisps out of the freezer now.
Please post that GEC when you get it. Love to see pics.

I live on an old farm in the boonies of Ontario with a 100 year old patch of Rhubarb. My Mother used to can rhubarb every summer so the patch brings back great memories. Of course I get to use any number of my knives cutting it for crisps and Stawberry rhubarb pies each year. Yur all welcome to a root or ten if you're ever in this neck of the woods.

Regards

Robin

Ditto! I've been eyeballing one of those myself. I bought the GEC river blue EZ open based on a prior review of yours, and have to say your review was spot on! Looking forward to your comments & pics on this one!

The rhubarb has arrived. The colors are vivid and the blades are looking good. The colors are a mixed green and red. The picture almost make the green look like a gold color but it's not. It reminds me of rhubarb and a great time in my life. What a great knife!

Looks great I just need to make up my mind on my first GEC. I like that rhubarb looks like pillow candy.

My rhubarb memories come from South Dakota also. My granparents lived on the edge of Medicine Creek near Blunt, SD. They always had a patch of rhubarb growing. My cousins and I would take the uncooked rhubarb and dip the end in a bowl of sugar and eat it raw! I wouldn't want to try that now!
GEC makes some great stuff. I carry a USA Schrade Stockman in honor of my grandfather. That is my memory knife... We should do a thread dedicated to slipjoints that bring back memories!

My grandma had a rhubarb bush, we used to pull it off the bush and eat it by the stalk. Tasted even better in a pie.

Kinda looks like red celery. Don't eat the leaves.

We have lot's of rhubarb in here. My friend has a lot excessive rhubarb in every year so we get one or two bagful. Rhubarb pie is delicious but I love rhubarb soup with vanilla sauce. Nobody makes it like my mom.

glocktenman: Thank you for sharing. It is truely a beautiful knife.
