Canal Street Cutlery...

our LT first brought it to our attention, now both BLADE MAGAZINE and KNIFE WORLD has shown it off. It's been a long, long time since a knife manufacturer put out one of these. Also a pic of my only Schrade Walden ringer.... I would consider trading it even up for the new Canal Street issue. MOP handles, please.

I have one of these from Canal Street on order from Bill Horn at Cumberland. I guess as soon as he gets it, I will.

Paul

I too have one on order from Cumerland (best price); however as of 11/20/06 he did not receive them. Cumberland site indicates that if he does not receive them by 12/01/06, he will not carry that item any more. I hope he waits till atleast 12/15.

Red Hill Cutlery is auctioning off a black pearl and a MOP ring opener on Ebay. I think they go under kycase1. I have no idea what the reserve is but I'm sure it's over $150.
Eric

Tempting, Eric! You are the resident knife spotter! Are you going to bid??

I don't know, they're mighty pricy, Red Hill usually has the reserve price right up at retail. The problem is I've usually got so many knives on my watch list I'd have to be a millionaire to afford all of them! I hear Canal Street is having a problem getting these knives out because of the time involved with putting them together. Lots of small parts.

My first post in the schrade forum. A few of you will have seen this before elsewhere. Not a Schrade or Canal street but seems to be on the general topic. I believe this Humphrey's Radiant is from the 1920s or so. It has nice brass fittings and 'genuine' ivorine handles. Still has great snap on opening and closing. If more appropriate, please move it to the traditional folders section.

Nah....S-K, this is quite the appropriate forum to post that in. We here at Schrade forum have never let a little thing like "topic" stand in the way of a good story, or a little knife porn.

In fact, we have been known to wax poetic about such things as ping-pong balls, socks, thongs, etc...;)

Post away!

Glenn

Thanks Glenn. I don't have many Schrades so thought this would give you guys something to compare those new Canal Street Ring Turners against. They look pretty sweet by the way. Cheers!

The first thing I noticed is the nail nick, the Scharde's and Canal Streets have none. FWIW.

I guess you don't need a nail nick, but it's nice to have options! Do these knives have a backspring like a "regular" slippie? Never owned one.

I didn't mean that to be a bad thing it was just the first thing I noticed. Nice knife.

Hey folks,
Just wanted to let you know those back ordered Canal Street ring turns were shipped out to Cumberland yesterday (just in the nick of time). He's now taking orders.Last I saw there were 35 available, minus one for me :)
Eric

Really nice little knife, but - seventy bucks! Is it just me or does that seem steep? When I stop and think about it, a box of cigars is about that much and when you're done smoking them you don't have anything left but a box to store your knives...so I guess it wouldn't be the worst waste of my money. I just wish they were thirty dollars.

Is there a reason this little ring opener is in the seventy dollar price range? Are they hard to make?

Well hell! You only live once. I am going to buy one right now. I will post a review once it arrives.

That unchanging "35" got me a little nervous too! I shot an email to Bill at Cumberland and he let me know that the ring openers actually came in on Tuesday (12/5) and would be shipping out Wednesday (12/6).
I hope mine comes soon (my first Canal Street knife)!
