Hi
I posted a topic on a place that makes contact wheel and there price.I got an email from Rob say that he did not like that I put a post up about a cheaper place to get contact wheels.I never said his name or anything.I need a tracking wheel made and rob is good at making them.so I dropped him
a line,he said tht he would do no more work for me because of the post,i did not post it
to be mean I posted it because I know knife makers are looking for the best buy they can get.So word to the wise if you need work done by Rob,don't cross him,or you will not get any work done.i told him if I offened him
in anyway I was sorry but he does not forgive

Nathan, while most in the knife making community are probably pretty nice people, some may not be, or might just be having a bad day. Being honest and polite in your dealings with others goes a long way towards creating a life you don't have to apologize for and always brings customers back.

Don't worry about it. I didn't read what you posted but if you only mentioned a better price, Mr. Frink is out of line. That type of business practice will only bite him in the backsides. I used to buy Tsuba's from a company that did about the same thing. I spent the next year badmouthing them and it may have killed their business alltogether.

Nathan:
I read your original post and found nothing that would impune anyone's business. We are all here to help one another, and I for one, appreciate any and all information where supplies we need can be purchased at a more reasonable price. I believe Mr. Frink owes you an apology. Take heart there are people everywhere who do not like a little competition. Such is life.

I'd like to hear Rob's reply to this.

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

There are always 2 sides to every story and rather than getting involved in a mud slinging campaign , I would just say that I dispute the accuracy and context of what has been said. I feel that some battles are best unfought as in this case, no winners will emerge. I'd rather let it die with no more harm done.

I do not know what happened or what was said. Let me just say from my experience Rob has always been damn nice to me with good service. he even helped me with some supplies I needed that he had excess surplus of at the time for a propane forge I was building and just charged me the shipping cost. I felt I made a friend. It is too bad things like this have to happen. Just for the record I am not taking sides here. Cory

I have had three separate dealings with Rob- and all three were 100% as agreed.

His work for me has always been first rate and I plan on continuing our relationship.

Folks can get sideways pretty easy some days and my best experiences have always been the ones I don't rush.

Maybe a good night's sleep would improve this and maybe not. I do know that it is real hard to keep a relationship on decent footing once things go into print world-wide on the internet.
