Very nice set.It is a great temper line on the large one, small one too.:) What is the blade length on the larger one?
Thanks

I was afraid someone would ask me that. I'm at work now, and it's at home. I'll measure it and post my results. It's just crazy sharp.

Boy, are those ever beautifully done. I have come to expect this kind of quality from Ron. He never seems to disappoint me.

Two observations, first it looks like those were made from files, just judging from the flats on the handles and second, it looks to me like the temper line on the larger one dips just a little bit too low twords the cutting edge in the front. I think that that there was an article in blade by Ed Fowler when he let a blade with a too low of a temper line get out of his shop, it has hunted him ever since.

The steel is milled O1 from Starrett, not old files. While I would have prefered a higher point to the front drop, it is only a visual issue. That area still retains all the hardness it needs to be fully functional.

On traditional Japanese swords some of the Hamon patterns went down all the way to the edge at every point.

Very nice.., thanks for the picture, and enjoy! Great pieces!
