This little Ruger in .22 mag is light at 5 and 1/4 pounds and short at just over 37". Makes it easy to carry and it's short throw lever action makes it fast to shoot. It sure seems powerful enough for it's small size. Uses the familiar and reliable rotary magazine Ruger is famed for. Holds a total of 10 with one up the spout. It's my second fave .22 mag.

It does have nice lines.

It's almost like a long lost bastard child of the Savage 99.

How well does it group?

It's accurate enough for hunting and plinking. Nothing like most bolt actions and it's very light and short, mainly it's fast to shoot. I have bolt action .22 mags that will out group it easy.

I've got the .17hmr version. I really love this round and shooting it out of the 96.

Jill, contact Todd at ttshooter . com and have him re-work your trigger. He'll get it down to about 4 lbs and it'll be very crisp/sharp. You'll like it and it'll help accuacy.

I floated most of the barrel and post bedded the tip of the barrel. A full float doesn't always work with these guns becase of the way it is attached to the reciever. When I did this, I took the barrel band off and smoothed out the stock. So I sanded the whole stock down and refinished it. Now it's blond wood and definately not your average look. I like it.

So have some fun w/ your gun and work on it a bit.

I love the .22 mag, and it's a shamefully underrated round.

I love that Ruger-- great combo of rifle and caliber.
