Rust removal question

I just picked up a NIB CRKT Seahawk, but it has a few tiny specs of rust on the blade spine and near the thumb stud. The question is the following: Is there a product that will remove the stains and not polish off the bead blast finish? I've used MetalGlo polish on satin finished blades, but if you use it on a bead blast blade, it will give the blade an almost pewter finish.

Try using "Break Clean" and a toothbrush if that doesn't work you could always get in touch with CRKT and they should help you out!

This same question was asked once before and I was succeessful with the recommended technique on one of my bead blasted blades. Just erase it. That's right - just rub it with a pencil eraser. And for a blade in worse condition or any stainless blade you want to quickly refinish - tape off the handle and have it bead blasted locally for a small fee. May have to call around to see who's willing to do it. This will work for non stainless blades as well of course but the subsequent maintenance required is extreme. That's why makers like Mr. Greco will add a clear coating to their blades after blasting them. It is kind of neat to pick up a used knife and have it blasted to look new - handle and all. Experiment with taping areas beforehand and polishing areas afterward.
Now if I could just figure out a "crib safe" coating to apply to non stainless bead blasted blades I could have a bunch of new knives in just a couple of days. Suggestions anyone?;)

When I finish bead blasting a blade I heat it with my torch to cook out all the moisture. Just take it to the point where it is just past the point where you can hold it comfortably in the hand. That way you won't have to worry about the temper. I then wipe a generous amount of Renisance Wax over the entire surface and it should melt nicely down into every open pore of the blade. I have had good results with this. See if you like it. Brian
