What is the lowest priced SAK with a saw and where is it sold? I plan on buying one of Cold Steel’s SAK clones and I want to have something to compare it to. Maybe do my own test and eval.:)

I just got a SAK camper for about $30, I think that maybe the smallest model with a saw. Pretty basic, and I think I got overcharged. However, I got it at an outdoor store, I think you could a cheaper one at Walmart. Also, that was a Victorinox model. Some of the Wenger models have saws and I think theirs sell for about $20 or so at KMART.

I got the Hiker (which is basically the Camper but with Phillips instead of a corkscrew)at a local hardware store for about $23. The Hiker and Camper are the most basic Victorinox SAK's with saw blades.

I bought a SCOUT a month ago. I dunno if they have different names in Canada or something, but it is the SAME model as the camper. It is awesome. I wanted something that had the same stuff as my knockoff, but with a saw. This has a saw and a small blade, and of course the tooth pock and tweezers. It is a great model, and the saw eats wood like crazy.

I bought a Wenger Alpine Backpacker at K-Mart for about 20.00 in Charlotte NC.
Not only does it have a wood-saw, but the main blade is serrated and locks (the Wenger packlock).

Good luck,
Allen.

The simplest SAK with a saw is actually the Plumber, with a single blade and a single saw...

I cannot find this knife online for the life of me, but I saw it 2 days ago in the local House of Knives store.

Numberthree, did it have aluminum or plastic scales?
It sounds very interesting.

Thanks,
Allen.

Hi,

For a larger and more sturdy SAK knife with a saw, I'd go for:

- Victorinox Farmer (0.82 41.20) - an all metal knife

- Victorinox Safari (0.87 70) - sometimes seen in green, and with an eagle crest, being the German Army issue knife

Both of these are not common these days, but I have seen them mentioned in some discount knife sites.

it had regular SAK red plastic scales. I'll go back and look at it again to be sure about the blade layout...

A quick search of Swiss-Knife.com, with which I'm quickly becoming acquainted, has brought forth one of the Economy models -- with a saw, a large blade, and a combo bottle opener/can opener.

Smallest I've ever seen with a saw. $7.88 pre shipping, US cash.

We have a WINNER! Thank you for all the reply's. At first, I thought Swiss-Knife.com was overpriced but then I see that the first number is in CHF , which apparently means Swiss Franks. Remember, I am hoping to campare SAK to the CS copys and even a cheap clone or two and see how they dish out to abuse. So cheap is good.:D If I don't destroy them, the loser becomes a beater or a "gift." Of course, there may not be a loser. For close to the same $ CS has twice the features and SAK is 100+ yrs old for good reason! It will be fun to see how they fare out.
