after handling the Caly3 i admit that i am in utter NEED of a micro-manix. i think we all agree that the mini-manix is still a "big" knife. a smaller, true EDC sized micro-manix would be ideal. the biggest problem with the manix and mini-manix is the width of the knife, especially when closed.

if sal can make a manix that is the size of the Caly3, we have a winner. i love the new caly 3 but the mini-manix handles still feel better to me. i just wish it can be had in a slightly smaller package.

other things that make a manix a manix to me is: 5/32" thick blade, MBC rated lock, and yes steel snobbery in full effect S30V made in GOLDEN!!!

who else wants one?:D

I will admit that while I think the Caly3 is one great knife, I would have been even more excited about it if the blade had been made using S30V steel.

This is just unecessary. Spyderco already has too many models that are way too similar in looks and materials. Making the Manix any smaller would just defeat the purpose.

Although I don't necessarily disagree with your stance, it is worth mentioning that it doesn't hurt to ask...that is a main reason Sal is here, to get Afi feedback.

I figure it is up to Spyderco to decide if our wants make good business sense or not. ;) :)

I agree, I don't think there's anyhting wrong with them posting their opinions. I don't mean to be misunderstood. I'm saying such a knife would be unecessary, not the thread or their opinions. Didn't mean to come off harsh.

I'm going to have to agree. While the Caly 3 might not fit your prefs perfectly, I have to imagine it's so close to what the micro manix would be as to render them redundant. In my opinion, Spyderco has some big redundancy, and I'd like to see some variation.

I just happen to have one for you SanShou:). I do think that the Caly3 is very close to what a Micro Manix might be.

Ront takes some awsome pics makes me want to buy them both over and over. I have s30v and vg10 still can't chose witch is better they are both very hard to dull while i have a harder time get that great edge on the vg the s30 seems take the edge with less fine work. but i'm still new at the sharpening game. buy them both buy them all can't go wrong with the spyderco. Sal only makes great knifes.... My dad gave me a spyder when i was 16 back when there where not so many to chose from keep it till the frn clip had been streched to the max and i lost it:grumpy: caly 3 is very close to what a micro manix would look like i think.

I was just passin by and I've seen Ront's pix, now I know what to buy for Xmas! I had already the caly 3 on the list but I couldn't decide between Manix and Mini Manix, now the decision is taken (mini manix).

I thought that the Caly 3 was the Micro Manix, that that was the concept behind it. But there's nothing wrong with wanting something. Me, I want the Hossom Choppers!

I thought the Mini should have been smaller.
Here is what I think the "Micro" should look like.

I have to agree that the manix and the mini are not too different in size.I would think that the mini would at least be 1 inch smaller.
