Sarge?

You asked that I post pictures of the battered BAS after I went to work on it. Given my limited talents, I'm pleased with the results.

I'm attempting to post a link for the first time. A friend dropped in and happened to have his digital camera with him. I think I did this correctly.NOTE: I did it correctly, but Yahoo won't share.

Also included is a picture of the denim sheath (Wisconsin Camo) that I made for the 12 in AK. It's nothing like Terry's work, but sufficient for my purposes. The denim blends in on levis and the blunted tip stops the chappe from digging in. I did nothing to the original sheath, but slipped this over it.

As I mentioned, I don't need another 15 inch knife, so if you come across a usable 10 inch new model, pen knife, or...I guess, another 12 in AK, a swap is not out of the question. If they are beat up, fine, I'm just going to use them anyway. (Only exception is if Bill wants the BAS blem back...then he gets it.)

Thanks for your interest.

Looks to me like you did a great job Kismet. Plus got a great little Khuk out of the deal, only requiring some elbow grease. Good job saving that thing after someone abused it. :)

Nice job! They make such a cute family *sniff* *sniff* Good to see that little khuk found a good home. :)

This will teach me to ask: "How hard can it be?

and thanks Bruise and ept for the kind words. I'm glad I didn't keep track of the hours working over the blade. If'd I had some 800-1200, could have brought up the mirror finish. The 600 grit did lovely, if time-consuming work.

Horn was Bag-Balmed...over and over and over. Filled with superglue in the scuffs and a crack, and then buffed with paste wax and a power buffer, steel (blade) done wet and dry, then paste waxed.

Edge? Stone, and steel and ceramic, little 600 grit to smooth the area dinged, then more stone, steel and ceramic.

Sheath didn't see much use apparently, just some neatsfoot oil to moisten it up.

It moves well in the hand. In another post, I mentioned that the AK is more blade heavy...the BAS has a better balance.

It was all, or virtually all, hand work. God love the kamis.
