scope vs red dot sight

what's wrong with simple iron sights?
for the task at hand, i rekon open sights would be the way to go.

Absolutely nothing wrong with iron sights at all. I'll be the first to admit though, that once it's past 20 yds or so, I have a hard time finding squirrels in trees looking over iron sights.

I have played with red dots on my Rem 597....really not bad at all out to about 50yds....

But I prefer a 4x32 scope on my marlin 60, and open on my Winchester 67

Use a scope, I can only see using a red dot to clear rooms. Call it a left over from the military. If you have to use a red dot to pick off those little creatures I think you may need to find a hobby :)

Just got my first 10/22 with a red dot scope. So far I'm liking it a lot. It's pretty easy to dial in. Most of my shooting has been under 100yds ; not too sure how it is at longer ranges. Sure beats using open sights with my poor vision.
