A friend of mine was remodeling an old house for the new owner and stumbled across 3 Gillette safety razors. I've no idea of the age of these, but they are solid chrome plated brass and he gave one to me. Sweet!! I used it this morning with some el cheapo Personna blades from mallwart and even with these questionable blades the shave was quite smooth.

I have already found a brush and soap that I am happy with (have been using them with a mach III) but have no idea about quality safety razor blades.

So now to the needed advise. What is a good blade for a TTO razor that can be found in a brick and mortar store?

You can find Wilkinson blades at A&P supermarkets if they are in your area. They are made in Germany and give a pretty smooth shave, although the English Wilkinsons are supposed to be a little better. I use the Wal-Mart Personnas as well and I have no complaints. But if you want to really explore the possibilities, check out the sampler packs at WestCoastShaving.

Thanks fellas. That sampler pack looks like a good way to meet my match, Thanks Torz.

Wilkinson Match is now owned by Energizer Holdings, who also own Schick, as of 2003. Gillette is owned by Proctor and Gamble.

If you are wanting the absolute best safety razor blades, almost comparable to a straight razor, then the only choice is Merkur-Solingen. They are the best obtainable.

The rest are pretty much all the same.

online specials on blades exist. some are bargains. i do not wish to spam but you may search for 'Feather Razor Blades' and you will be chasing the best (i think).. Merkur would be the other good one.. ;)

I find that my favorite blades are Derbys and Israili Personnas. The Feathers are just too sharp and unforgiving. Merkur Blades fall way down the list for me.
