scribing a tapered tang?

Anyone have a little trick for scribing the edge of a full tang for grinding down to a tapered tang other than the obvious?

Shoulda looked a bit first. Found Don Cowles tutorial here
I was thinking I would have to scribe the entire length of the spines, guess I don't.

I scribe all the way around, it only takes a few seconds more. It just makes it easier to see if everything is even.
