What's the consensus here between the two? Pros and cons? I seem to hear all about the Sebbie most of the time.

I'm thinking I might finally do it . . .

Thanks.

Generally knifemakers don’t knowingly develop a new model that’s worse than the older one do they? That would be business suicide.

Owners of older model knives often never like the new stuff since it de-values our present stock.

I’ve handled Seb’s over the years and never really liked the overall package. There were several design changes that I would have preferred over the original, ergo handles among them. When the Umnumzaan came out, I found that I was once again in the market for a CRK because they addressed all the issues I had with the Seb. Sure, the Seb has that pivot bushing. The ‘Zaan I fondled recently had smoother pivot action that any Seb I’ve ever handled. As for engineering and strength of the new pivot design, I’m sure Chris changed it for a good reason. I have to believe HE is of the opinion that the new design is an improvement over the older one or he wouldn’t have made the changes he did.

Just a thought.

I like a sebb, they are not a flicker as to open fast, they build good stuff, as for the umnumzann i do not own one......

Hey Reeek, just get both man:D

Seriously though, I think there's a knife store in vegas that carries alot of nice makers stuff. I can't remember the name of it to save my life though - Or if it's even still there.
But, if it is and they happen to have both models in stock it may be worth a drive down to compare in hand. Just a thought.

Roger that.

Don't just buy a certain knife because the majority of forumites like one better than the other. Try them for yourself, then decide.

Why not go to the CRK forum, as that might serve you better.

I DO own both. The Umnumzaan is an excellent knife, but it is a BIG knife. It is also a VERY smooth knife. It does not have that thwack that the Sebbie does, as the thumb studs ARE also the blade stop. The thumb studs have rubber o rings around them. It IS a most excellent knife.

As far as EDC, I prefer the small Sebbie for carry. I do LOVE my Umunumzaan.
