I just sent back a Boker 2076 as shown here:

It looked so neat in Blade mag.
However, it was one of those rotten backless models that seem to be so popular now. Grrrrrrr. Who needs a knife that thinks it's a coin purse? AND....the coins get to bang against the edge. Wheee!

Now......I still want that blade configuration. In a light knife. And 3" or so blade. And ATS34 if possible or equivalent.

And.....now the bad part......don't want to spend $300 on a jackknife.

$100 or under.

Anyone know of a knife without a coin slot in the back of the handle?

Want one hand open. Stud preferable as have a holey one now that is a mite too big for what I want.

TIA

P.S. They won't be out of stock in a few days. They'll have the one I returned. It even had the blade ridge off center on one side. And scrapety screws. What happened to Germany?

ThinkOfTheChildren is right. Don't carry coins in the same pocket as your knife. I got one of those Michael Walker designed Böker knives in a trade and ended up getting rid of it. It looks nice in the catalogues and magazine ads, but the actual knife was a disappointment. About the only good thing I could say about it was that it opened smoothly.

These days, knives made in Taiwan have better fit and finish than knives made in Germany. So, what happened to German cutlery? The same thing that happened to Spanish cutlery. Spain and Germany where once the countries to look to for high quality European knives, but manufacturing methods in North America, Japan, and now Taiwan have surpassed that of the Europeans. While both Spain and Germany still produce what I would consider decent quality knives by a user standpoint, I think that Italy is the one that is raising the standards of European made production knives.
