SERE or GERBER?

Gonna get either an Al Mar SERE or a Gerber Applegate Fairbairn. Can't afford both so need some advice, particularly from those who have used both. In case anyone want s to know what I'll be using the new blade for, let's just say EDC, backpacking,factory work and general let's-see-how-tough-this-baby-is kind of stuff.

I don't have the Al Mar, but I do have the Gerber A/F. I'm not very pleased with it.
Fit and finish was substandard, and I just don't trust the strength of this blade. I really don't know why I bought it.

If I were you I'd get the SERE.

How about going out of the box, and getting a Spyderco Military? But, of the 2 choices that you presented, it would have to be the Al Mar SERE...A much stronger knife and better quality (IMO).
