Sorry but I just could not let this lay in the back room. Most of us should hang our head in shame. Yes I said us because I have done it also. Another topic started out with J.D. getting beaten up and laughed at for posting his wares for sale in what was perceived by some to be the wrong area. We have all done it. Yes I admit I have and I have only been on the forum a couple of weeks. Is posting our URL to our web site where we sell our custom, antique, collectable, or other knives not selling? Is putting that URL on each of our posts not selling? Is putting our business name on our posts not selling? Is displaying our knives whether made by us or someone else and asking for comments not a thinly veiled attempt at selling? Most of us have done it and/or are doing it now in an attempt to direct potential buyers to our information on our items for sale. Isn't it curious that with as many custom makers as there are on this site that the custom makers for sale forum has the least amount of posts in the Knife Exchange Area. Mike you own the site so you can do as you please, however, the rest of us do not have any such excuses. If the "Rules" are going to be applied to J.D. then they should be applied across the board to all of us. J.D. do not feel embarassed or ashamed for posting in the wrong area. YOU STAND IN GOOD COMPANY. WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

It's perfectly okay to put the url of your home page in your sig, even if it's a business. That's true anywhere on the net, not just here.

However, if knowing that doesn't assuage your feelings of guilt, you can pay a fine if you wish. Just send me a check or money order for whatever amount you feel is appropriate....

This post is not merely the author's opinions; it is the trrrrrruth. This post is intended to cause dissension and unrest and upset people, and ultimately drive them mad. Please do not misinterpret my intentions in posting this.

Cougar, If all you got from my posting was that I was seeking absolution for my past sins you obviously didn't get it. I also consider your mocking and ridiculing of my postings to be an inappropriate response from a moderator of this forum.

No stab1, we all have not done it. Some just blatantly abuse the privilege. Either through lack of knowledge or experience on the forums. Cougar was just replying with a little needed light humor. If people wish to participate in the forums to seek information or add information to members of the forum, that's great. Sell or trade knives occasionally, that's great also.
Sell knives for an income, advertise in the dealers section and compete with the professionals. No matter what the rules are, there are always people who feel that they are above them.

I have bought many knives from members of this forum, but I have also met many fine individuals and gained invaluable knife knowledge. That is the "spirit of the forums".

Would someone mind pointing out the URL of the thread in question where JD is getting beat up on? I seemed to have missed it, and would like to see if there is a problem.

Please don't be offended by my writing style ... once you get to know me you'll understand I'm a basically harmless lunatic and although I make fun of everybody and everything it's only because I imagine I'm being humorous.

I guess I'm not going to get any check or money order this time ... oh, well. The good news is it's finally dawned on me that now I'm a moderator I can delete those damned double posts, and I just deleted one. Whoopee! What a sense of power! Superman must feel like this when he leaps over a tall building in a single bound!

Cougar, My apologies for the previous terse response to your posting. A forum friend has informed me that it is your style and off the wall sense of humor.

I appreciate the forum allowing me to express my opinion and I respect all of the opinions I have received in response to mine, whether they were in agreement or not. There is no heartburn on this end toward anyone and I sincerely hope there is none on the other end.

Stab1, since all us here who know and love Cougar realize that he has No heart (I think it's because he is from Remulak), I can assure you that you have done him No Harm. Nor did he mean to harm you either.
