Does anyone else occasionally use shampoo & conditioner to treat their badger brushes? Makes sense to me since it removes soapy buildup as well as restores some of the oils back into the hair.

I use a shampoo now and then, and also every few months I'll clean them in a 1:10 solution of borax & water followed by a shampoo. Makes 'em like new.

I snagged some brush cleaner with my last order from classic shaving, but I haven't tried it yet. before that I was using shampoo and conditioner, but only once or twice a year. my water isn't really hard, so it hasn't been a big deal.

I've heard that Classic Shaving's brush cleaner is mainly borax. Some people suggest using borax followed by a vinegar solution to balance the PH, I tried it and found that it didn't make much difference except to make my brush stink of vinegar for 2 or 3 days.

Oh yeah, any excuse to show off my brushes!

Borax and vinegar? Wouldn't rub that stuff into my hair or beard, wouldn't wash my dogs with it either.

I think I'll stick with shampoo and conditioner.

Oh yeah, ShaveMac rocks! Bernd is one righteous dude!
