Hi, I'm considering buying one of Cold Steel's non-metallic knive made from grivory. Does anyone know how good this material is at holding an edge, and whether of not it can be sharpened? Also, how about zytel as a blade material? Any good? Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

These knives are for last ditch one time use. They will not hold an edge and can not be effectively sharpened for general use. Zytel is the same story.

Thanks for that, I figured it mite be the case. I've got some decent folders for everyday use, and my edc is a good quality folder, but I was thinking about these non-metallics for precisely that kind of back up weapon.

I sharpened a friend's with 600-grit sandpaper. One use though, and it was dull again. If it's going to be a one-time-use thing, then some sandpaper.
