Sharpening Question For RAT Cutlery et al

It's the Noob here again. (I guess I'll be a noob until I get my RC4, which is on the way. Woo Hoo!)

My question is what is the recommended sharpening angle for the RC4? I seem to recall reading that, for the RC3 it was 30 degrees, and 20 for the RC4. I don't have any fancy sharpening system, just a Gatco block with gray, then white ceramic rods and angle choices of 20 and 25 degrees. The idea with it is to use the sharper angle with the coarser gray rods, then use the white ceramic to convex and better finish the edge. It has served me pretty well on my current knives. I plan to do some more research into sharpening, but thought I'd ask the group here as you are all more knowledgeable than I.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

20 degrees per side. 40 degrees included angle.

All of our knives are the same

Sharpening is a pretty personal preference thing.....I knew Jeff would set you on what they come with. I, personally, sharpen everything on a piece of leather and sandpaper, then maintain with a strop.

It produces a convex edge, which is my preference, that is SIMPLE to maintain.

+1 for sandpaper strop. I LOVE convex and as soon as I get my RC4 I will do so!

I too have gone strictly sandpaper and leather strop with polishing compound. The combo produces an edge that a stone cant seem to match.

400 / 600 / & 1500 grit paper, Leather strop with sears white polishing compound.

320, 400, 600 and 1500 for me!

I also use a leather strop with Flexcut stropping compound. Seems to work great for me.
