u guys probably get asked this all the time but away, do u now a sharping tool that is esay to use n u dont have to oil first????

Well, different camps have different opinions on the use of lubricants for sharpening. I personally use all my Arkansas stones dry. Some say to use oil. Some don't. Some say to use water. Some don't. Some say to use WD-40. Some don't..............

The key is to keep whatever meduium you use for sharpening clean. Don't allow metal filings to build up in the pores of your stones. If you use oil, this tends to help the particles stay suspended and not clog the stone, thus allowing the stone to cut better. Using a stone dry allows the pores to fill a bit quicker with metal, but a quick wash with soap and water after sharpening usually removes the debris, and once dry, your stones are good to use the next time you need them.

My .02 cents only, but dry works better - and faster - for me.

Can't beat a fine diamond hone or rod, different companies to choose from, Spyderco, Lansky, DMT, Gatco, they're all fine products, and with practice will all put a nice edge om most steel and blade shapes.

I like the razor edge sharpening system.
I like my hones dry.

Welcome to the forum Soul. The best, easy to use system is the Spyderco Sharpmaker. This V type system is for keeping blades sharp, not designed for reprofiling the edge. If your knife is dull, skip the instructions about alternating sides and do one side until you raise a burr the full length of the blade, then do the same on the other side. Alternate on the fine stones/rods after that. If your knives are beat or dull, then an easy to use system would be the Lansky with the diamond stones. Keep it sharp.

I like lansky systems. they hold the angle for you and this is the only way I have ever put a shaving edge on any of my knives. I have an old buck special that has gone on every camping trip since I was twelve. the lansky system let me put a better edge on it that there was when it was brand new.
