Just got my Sharpmaker in the post today. First go and I got a hair popping edge on my son's oh-so-dull Opinel blade. Next is the Gerber Rivermaster Cliplock - convex grind so could be interesting - and maybe a few kitchen knives before chancing it on my beloved Paramilitary.

What a cool and well thought out tool.

I ordered a Sharpmaker yesterday. Does it sharpen serrated blades well? Any tips? Thank you.

iT GIVES VERY SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO SHARPEN SERRATED KNIVES. aND YES, IT DOES WORK.

Works great on serrated, V-grind, and convex edges once you learn your way around the sharpening system.

According to the instruction book it will do just about anything - hatchets, chisels, scissors, darts - you name it. Hours of sharpening fun for all the family :)

Sharpmaker is a fantastic product. Having say that, it is limited a little. Hachets, chisels and scissors serious sharpening request other tools, not necessary power tools. Moreover, reprofiling bevels is not a work for Sharpmaker (usually my knives are 10° included angles primary grind). Certainly it's the best for my wife's daily touch ups. But for my taste Spyderco ceramic hones plus a good SiC stone and a leather strop loaded with CrO are another story. Learning free hand sharpening, without any thricks, is a fantastic discipline. Sometimes I want my knife razor sharp in the first 2 inches and the remaining part a little more sturdy, sometimes viceversa...Respectfully, you can read in this Forum the threads of a reliable gentleman like Cliff Stamp (and others one naturally!).
