I'll probably get fussed at for this. And, I'm a little biased in my opinions. Having been raised by the Sheathmaker, I can tell you that I have seen him throw into the trash what I thought was perfectly good leather work. If it's not perfect, it doesn't go out. When he gets an order in, he starts it, and finishes it and gets it back to the customer as soon as he can. His work ethic has taught me well. I am proud that you folks who own a sheath made by my Dad are proud to own it. Oh, hi Dad!

Welcome to BF son of Sheathmaker! I hope you stick around and enjoy. :)

Welcome to BF!

I would think your dad's work ethic would be as good as any. His leather work sure seems to reflect that.

Hey, could you ship me some of that shop trash with some of those perfectly good trash sheaths in it? Just so I can take a look. ;) :D

Seriously, if I ever get good enough at sheathmaking to sell any, one of your dad's sheaths is high on my list of things to buy.

Welcome to the Bladeforums.
How about a contact # for you're Dad.
Thanks Randy

Welcome to BF son of Sheathmaker! I hope you stick around and enjoy. :)

Actually, I'd bet big bucks that post was by my Daughter. The Elam part refers to my executive partner and CEO of Paul Long Custom leather. See picture below.

PAUL

He's on here - he's Sheathmaker -- Paul Long. Actually, I'm his daughter, but Sheathmaker's Daughter wouldn't fit as a user name. Elam is my dog who sits on Dad's desk in a supervisory position :D Hence the user name. I just googled Dad last night to see what I could find and I found you guys. Nice forum and beautiful work on knives and sheaths alike. I've seen some really spectacular knives go through Dad's shop, too. When I stop to pick up Elam every evening, I enjoy seeing what he's created to go with which ever kind of knife has been sent him to cover. You guys do some beautiful work out there.

Ok, well, Welcome Daughter of Sheathmaker!! :p :D Either way I hope you stick around! Paul is good people and I am sure you are too. :)

Elam is welcome as well, but without thumbs tis not likely he will post much. ;)

Ron! Cut it out! He can barely fit through the door already without you swelling that head any more! :p

Thanks for the welcomes! And Leatherman, you'd be surprised what my Elam can do without thumbs! Dad's my hero as well, Ron, but that's how we girls are about our dads. There are benefits to having a leather craftsman for a father. Elam is currently sporting a sharkskin collar that is quite handsome. And although Dad doesn't make them anymore, one of my most prized possessions is a saddle he made for himself many years ago. He was going to sell it when he sold his last horse, but I told him that would be over my dead body. I may never use it as horses are awfully expensive to keep these days, but it works nicely in my living room as a show piece. Or in my personal case, a 'show off' piece.

Welcome...

Your father's work is my inspiration and my benchmark of design, quality and what is possible. I am humbled too by how open and giving he is of his time, advice and knowledge. I have asked questions and received both immediate response and encouragement.
Thanks to him and you are graced to have such a man as your father.

Now.. show us a pic of that saddle. :)

Dwayne, that is his hat and belt buckle that stop him from entering normal human doorways :D

He might have made a few sheaths - but he should see MY work - I have been at it for almost a YEAR! ;)

I bet he tosses out stuff I would sell in a heartbeat and be proud of it! ;)

Cool that your daughter is a fan too!

BTW Paul, does your CEO do any consulting work? - I could use a little advice with my side business...

He might consider some outside consultation work if there was a nice "bone==us" in it for him.

Paul,

I saw some of your others stuff on a few other threads - it was just sick... sick I tell you.

Nice work bro. There are so many mild mannered great leather benders in this forum.
