What is the name of those all plastic/gel slip on shoes that seem so popular with healthcare workers?

Has any male ever worn those shoes? Are they really that comfortable?

Thanks.

You mean Crocs I believe.
They are supposed to be really comfortable, I see a lot of women wearing them, men I haven't noticed. They do make them for men...

Personally I think they are ugly and I'll stick to a quality hiking boot in the winter and a mesh style runner for the summer.

I've been wearing them for about 3 years now as my knock around the house, field, run to the store shoes.

At the ripe old age of 36, I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both my knees and these were the only shoes that I could wear for extended periods of time, without my knees killing me at the end of the day. I also live, fish and boat on the lake near my house, and they are great for using in and around water.

Ugly, yes. Comfortable, yes. Do I care? Nope.

I work in an OR, and I do not like them! I do not think that they are comfortable at all.

I wear Merrell's in the OR.

Lots and lots of the kids that do swim team around this area wear them year round. I tried a pair and didn't find them as comfortable as my Teva sandals. The pair I tried did not incorporate gel. They were made up of a harder plastic.

Update in case anyone cared.

I bought a pair of "trailbreaker" sandal crocs, very similar in styling to the all terrain sandals out there. My opinion is that while at about $50 they are not bad, any Keen shoe style I have (3 different) are quite a bit more comfortable.

Ugly....yes.......comfy........yes........do I care if so.........NO.

I resisted for a couple of years and then got a pair on sale and thought to myself....why did I wait so long???? Use mainly around the house and yard for quick kickons and sometimes camping.

Working in a kitchen will murder your feet in short order if your footwear isn't up to snuff. He needs an orange G-10 folder to go with them, methinks.

Hi,

A couple of Doctors wear them at an E.R. that I transport to. But, I've never seen a Nurse wear them.

I've got a pair that I kick around in once in a while. I also like to bring them on hiking trips as a second pair of camp shoes/water shoes. If I have to be on my feet for a long period of time though I still prefer my Doc Marten work boots or a pair of running shoes.

Yeah, I have a pair. Two actually. I use one, my normal ones, for just bumming around in, or for watersport, etc. Flip-flops really hurt my feat and I have a hard time finding really big Jesus-style sandals.
I also have a pair with a solid bottom and a leather top. They're slightly too small and squeak real badly when worn without socks. I replaced them with Sperry Topsiders.

they are so light I bring a pair when I do backpacking. I strap a pair on the outside of my backpack to change into after a day on the trail in my hiking boots

I have a couple pair that I wear mostly around the house and yard. I also have a pair of knock-offs that came from Target. I like the knock-offs better. In either case, I really like them in the winter, spring and fall with wool socks. In the summer, my feet sweat too much in them.

I have a pair and love them. They are very comfortable after they get broken in, about 2 weeks. Once they are broken in they are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I take a pair camping, canoeing, hunting. In the spring, summer and fall, I immediately change out of my work shoes into my crocs after I get out of work! I love them! They are the best $30.00 I have spent in shoes. Beware of the knock offs though.

Beware of the knock offs though.

estanaway-- if you'll notice the post just above your's, you'll see that I like my Target knock-offs better than my Crocs. I've read good things about Payless knock-offs, too. Comfort is subjective, off course. I'm just suggesting that at least some of the knock-offs may compare to the real deal --at least as far as comfort goes.

Mario never seems to give a shit about his man card.....lousy example...Great chef, horrible dresser....he ALWAYS looks fat and sloppy.

I tried a pair on....NOT durable enough for me.

Best Regards,

I got a pair with the fleece lining for my birthday over a month ago. I have worn them everywhere. I have found their comfort more than makes up for their looks.

Just an FYI- some of the Crocs (there are probably about 50 variations now) are recommended by podiatrists- most are not. I've tried both (that's how I found out) and there is a huge difference in comfort and benefit to your feet.
