I have been looking around this forum for a few days, I have read about poor quality, and some people say the quality is great. I love the looks of the carnivo. How "gritty" is the action on the knife, and the quality.
thanks

Get one -- you won't be disappointed.

I read many of the same comments that you have & I had my concerns as well. However, I was so impressed by my Sifu that I decided to take a chance & I'm glad that I did.

First, I have had no QC problems with any of my REKATs (5 now), including the Carnivour. Although the action on my Carnivour was no where as smooth as my Sifu when new, it was entirely acceptable and has improved considerably since then.

I used BP2000 powder as a lubricant, tweaked the pivot pin a bit, and loosened & then retightened the first frame screw immediately behind the pivot. That, plus working the action quite a bit, has it to the point where I can flick it open with my thumb w/o any need for wrist action at all. It has replaced my Commander as my daily carry piece.

Welcome. REKAT has, like most at one time or another, had a few QC problems. Just got a BF SIFU and Carnivor today!!!!! Both of them are smooth as silk. The CF Cub I got at the BLADE show is also. I have three other SIFU's with no problems. However I did get one green Carnivor from another BFC member that had a gritty feel on opening. If you took the spring pressure off the lock with the button it went away. Just a little tooling marks left on the end of the blade. Not a big deal to me and it has smoothed out with use.

It's a fine line between "a hobby" and "mental illness".

I have had a Carnivore since march of this year. It was somewhat gritty at first, but is now quite smooth. All I did was lubricate it and cycle the action repeatedly. It just takes a bit of breaking in. On Friday, I bought a Pocket Hobbitt. It is also gritty, but I am sure it will become smoother with use.

Get one. They're great!.

Just from what I've been monitoring, REKAT QC is constantly on the rise. Worst case, you're looking at a little break-in.

The design is so good, it's easily worth dealing with that if necessary. It won't do a "slip-up" type accident on a hard-target stab, it works in forward and reverse grips and the lock is among the best. If you have to stick with a 4" class blade for legal or size reasons, the Carny is superb.

If you can pack a Sifu though...
