Should I get the Tek-lok?

How necessary is the Tek-lok? If I get the sheath with the Molle back, I will be able to put the sheath on a 1.5" belt, right? Does the Tek-lok just make it easier and faster, or is it for belt carry for those who do not get the Molle back?

Thanks.

Nah, you don't really need the tek-lock. The molle back sheath is good enough.

Use the molle locks if you want the knife to ride higher.

How about the other questions? Does anyone know what the Tek-lok does that makes it worth owning (for some people)?

Almost all my fixed blade sheaths have Tek-Loks.

The advantages:

If you have different size belts, you can adjust the device accordingly (large TL only) to fit your belt exactly, so it doesn't wobble around.

You can put the knife on your belt (and take it off) without unbuckling your belt.

You can also use the TL on different sheaths, as long as they are drilled to take one. Therefore, you can feasibly just own one, and swap it between sheaths.

You can use 'em on kydex and leather sheaths, although most are used with kydex.

It's worth it IMO.

Check out my thread, "Izula Prototype Update". Buffalohump pretty much summed it up, but I'd like to add that with tek-lok, you could pretty much mount the knife however you like.

I got the tec loc and love it. I personally did not want the molle backing. I thought it added extra width when carrying on the belt. I'm not sure if that's the case or not, but i've been very happy with the tec-loc and the way it rides on my belt....the knife does not get in the way of my arm motion whatsoever....

The molle backing is also very cool, I have a tactical backpack and the molle backing would attach to my pack well.

I was just at the Valley Forge (PA) Gun Show after work today. One of the reasons that I went to the show was to pay a visit to Chestnut Ridge Knife. A month ago I was hoping to buy 2 RC-6s but that will have to wait awhile. I ended up buying 2 Tek-Locs for use on RC-3s which my son and I both have. I had taken the Tek-Loc off of one of my Blade-Tech mag holders and have been using it on my RC-3 for belt carry. Just as someone else already mentioned, the Tek-Loc allows for a nice high carry which works real well for me for concealed carry.

Good luck and enjoy you RAT knife.
