Had a chance to use my new toy to thin out some bushes this weekend. It is a 7.375 inch 5160 blade with mircata scales. I had some red-tips that were getting out of control on the side of the house so I went to work. The knife sailed thru limbs 1-2 inches in a single swipe. Branches took 3-5 depending on size. Where I was really impressed was how effective it was on the tiny limbs less than an inch, the kind that move with the knife when you hit them. The sweet spot on the blade was most effective here and before long I did not have much more than the core of the bushes left at the bottom.
The blade did not ding, roll, chip or dull when all was said and done. After all the sap and excess was cleaned off with a flitz bath and scrub and I wiped it down with a fresh coat of oil and it was still sharp enough to shave hair. I do not know that I will ever be able to tax this knife to it's fully extent, but it will be fun trying.
I hope to have tougher stories that show the capabilities of this knife in the future. I cannot wait to see how it preforms on 2 x 12 treated deck wood. I have a pile of that left over from removing a deck last year.
