Well, i just joined the fun with my first rekat: Sifu. It was going to be a carny, and I'll definatly pick one up (no new knives this month). One the sifu is in the hand, I can engage the lock and flick easily, or do a quick stud push. But from the pocket, its a long time from there to the hand, up tha handle to the lock then *flick*. How does one go about getting the theing from pocket to pointy quickly? Seems like it would have been a concern for a defensive knife (not that I'll be using it as such if luck holds). Thanks, E.

There is about an inch of the handle showing above the pocket. It's very easy to just grasp the butt of handle and wipe it out. It's a sweet blade, you will love it. Especially for daily carry

Its actually in my pocket now. When i try to whip it out, I just feel like I'm going to toss it. Either that or I need to exagerate the whip so much it seems inpractical (for a knife thats a foot long

). Is there a more fluid motion, or will it break in over time for an easier flick? E

Most knives break in for a smoother opening after a bit of use. There's also the option of lubricating and loosening the pivot screw. Also look at different carry options. Jim March has a kydex belt sheath he made for his Sifu, and he can have it out and open in well under a second - I saw him do it, very impressive, and intimidating if need be (I wasn't intimidated, but if he was pissed at me I would've been

jayharley,

I'll have some belt rigs very soon for the SIFU. I already make some to put on backpack straps that will let the blade open on the draw. Belt rig will be either breakfront or adjustable tension. Pikunis should hit here any day now, then I'll have the time to play with the SIFU and other REKAT products.

Mike, do you have anything like a catalog on line. Everything I've heard about your sheaths has been good, and I'd like to see some pics or illustrations. I'd also be interested in the ideas that Jim March has posted about a sheath for the sifu.

Jim, is the "mark 2" version the one that you talked about in another thread that would be jump rated or something like that?

Hank

Yup. In this case, "jump rated" is the same as "you won't lose it even if you crash a motorcycle"

.

I'm buried right now with other stuff...mainly this lawsuit, cataloging every document and writing up it's implications so the new lawyer will have a starting point.

But anyways, it's going to grab the Sifu at each end and allow you to grip the exposed middle and give a hard yank "sideways" and out.
