hi - thinking about getting a SIFU for an EDC knife - any of ya guys carry 1 all the time? any advantages/disadvantages?? i heard they had a propensity to open in your pocket due to tip up carry, is that true?? wanna get a larger folder, legal top 5 1/2" in tx - carry a spyderco matriarch and a BM AFCK, the SIFU would replace the AFCK. thanks for any info

Hi Vet95LT1.

I carry mine quite a bit, and have never had problems with the knife opening. The rolling lock keeps the blade secure, with plenty of detente to keep it closed. I vary from clipped, to deep pocket carry, depending on what I'm wearing and where I'm at. I have have both the finger groove style, and the BladeForums Special Edition. Both fit my hands very well. It is a workhorse. Do a search on this forum, and see what Jim March has to say about it.

I carry my Sifu almost every day. As far as it is carried in my jeans pants pocket, I have no problem from tip up carry.

Only problem I have had is, when I wore a loose pants with my Sifu in my right front pocket, and rode bicycle for 10km ride. Gravity and vibration of bicycle pulled the plade slightly downward, causing a slight itch on my thigh. Just an itch, no injury nor blood. I learned that combination is not good. Loose pants are okay, bicycle riding is okay.
But both at a time can trouble you.
Take care, have fun.

I can't carry at work, but I have a Sifu on me just about any other time. I have never had a problem with it opening in my pocket, which has been an occasional problem with other knives I've carried. Quite honestly I forget the Sifu is there once I put it in my pocket.

When I'm going to be doing something active I usually move it from my pocket to a Mike Sastre concealex belt sheath. That keeps it from shifting or rubbing no matter what I do. Probably not necessary, but nice.
