Silk cord question

[totally tactical]

I am starting to get into cordwrapped knives in a big way. Up to this point I have used shoelaces but I am wondering if I should use silk cord. Is there an appreciable difference in the appearence between silk and shoelaces? Is it easier/harder to wrap? TIA.

I know that silk does look better than most wraps besides maybe leather. My opion only. Silk will last a very long time and is very comfortable. I have a silk wrap on my katana so all of my views are coming from a Japanese style of weaponry. Hope it helps.

IMO silk looks alot more professional, it is easier for me to work with than shoes lace but silk cost alot more....
