So I get a new pair of jeans for Christmas and I am wearing them for the first time. I noticed my knife getting a bit gritty.I thought at first it was just grit from my oilstone. Nope. Stonewashed jeans. Make sure you blow out your pockets with shop air or wash them with the pockets pulled out.Good way to scratch up a nice shiny bolster. some of these jeans have rocks in the pockets.

Wow... I haven't seen stonewashed jeans since the 80s. I had one pair when they were the rage, and I remember the grit being in the pockets.

Is "stonewashed" coming back?

Robert

They weren't the really faded ones. You see the ones now that look like they've been lived in a bit.You can see the seems, zipper and pocket edges a bit faded.Sort of like Cases pocketworn.

Navihawk - you can still get into (and wear) jeans you bought in the
'80's?

It's interesting the things you DON'T think about. Who would have thought? Stone pieces/debris in stone washed jeans. Go figure. Good thing you caught that, too. You could have gone a long time wondering "What the hell is going on with my knife!?!?"

Unless you buy the traditional Levis that are dark blue, the others are stonewashed.

LOL dark blue (original) Levis are hard to find, shoot the stuff they sell nowadays looks like original Levis that are 8 months old. The kids buy jeans that look like mine when I'm ready to throw them away....and they pay 80+bucks for 'em:eek:

Good tip ......... I've noticed the same thing.

Man with rocks in pockets should not throw slip joints there, unless it's a Rough Rider.
(old Chinese proverb)

How do they wash all those jeans with stones? I don't understand that.
