I know this has been discussed before but since the search function has been disabled I figure I'd ask. but was wondering how often with normal use cutting and whittling do you clean and oil your slipjoints? If cutting food or dressing game obviously the rules change...also any tips on maintaining user slippys would be appreciated, Thanks.

I make cleaning and oiling a part of the sharpening process. That way it's a complete maintenance program, and I don't forget to do it.

Given my normal pattern, that ends up being about once a month or so.

If I've done a lot of food prep with one of my carbon slippies (most of them), I may give a good rinse/oil sooner. Never more than once a week or every couple.

P.S. I live in a very dry climate.
