Is it just me, or are the forums incredibly slow. For the past two days BF and TFL have been really slow. Threads that used to take second to download (I have cable modem) now take minutes. Sometimes, they just time out and I have to reload. The BM forum, KFC, and Tactical Forums are all fine, as are other sites such as ESPN and CNN.

Not a clue big fella.

Try opening an MS DOS prompt window and running a Trace Route for me.

Type in tracert bladeforums.com and tell me what it sends back.

Spark - I have to agree. Since the new UBB/format change over the holidays, the site is now incredibly slooooowwwwwwwww... on several different computers (one of which runs on a T1 line). How to we run the Trace Route check?

The new graphics seem to be slowing down the system. Possible?

AJ

Tried running a Trace Route. Opened an MS-DOS prompt, typed in tracert bladeforums.com, and received the following message...

Unable to resolve target system name bladeforums.com

Not sure why, but since the upgrade, the forums have been loading faster and smoother for me (56K modem) so I can't complain.

Yep....really slow on this side of the Pacific, too.

As a matter of interest, it took almost 4 minutes to load this window. The banner came up ok but the rest took forever.

Ran a Netlab trace and got:

Spark,

I have a 56K modem & Win95. My connection is maybe a little slower than before. That's OK, I read slow anyway.

I just ran a Trace Route (whatever that is) and got the following:

Hope this helps.

It's looking like what I thought, the bog down typically happens at the ALTER.net / FDN level, which is our ISP's throughput provider. They are telling me that when we move to the Class 5 switching station this month we'll have better throughput and connectivity, but we'll see what happens.

I'm also downloading as slow as I've ever seen on this forum, TFL, AR15.com, Glock Talk and just about every other forum I visit.

Tried to open a dos window but was told it would shut down all other operations and reboot into dos mode. Any other way to run a trace without shutting down everything???

So....after all these days, it seems there IS a problem.
Good to see we are not, all, imagining it
