Now this is one sweet knife!

The Macassar Ebony has much more of a varied color and grain pattern then pictures I saw on the net. The variation of light caramel colors and darker browns looks awesome. The feel of the wood adds a whole new dimension when gripping the knife. The fit of the wood inlays is extremely impressive. The addition of the slip sheath is a nice touch also. Can't wait to try out the abilities of the S30V steel.

I thought I might return it for dual blue thumbstuds, blue backspacer and to have the whole blade stonewashed. Was I ever wrong. The gold anodizing looks good. Not bright at all like I was afraid of, more of a bronze color. The two tone (stonewash/high polish) blade looks better then I thought it would. It needs dual thumbstuds but that's it. I'll send it in to get them after the honeymoon's over.

All in all, I would highly recommend a small classic inlay if you are considering it. If I could only keep one pocket knife from my collection, this would be the one. So far :). (I don't own a large regular inlay yet you know.)

A small request: Does anyone have pics of a darker wood inlay w/ blue thumbstuds they can post or email me? homer@innernet.net

Thanks to the Chris Reeves Knife family for the awesome carry piece. Much appreciated!

Thats the same model and wood I'd like to acquire next... whenever that may be... CONGRATULATIONS!!! Didja get the beauty from True North Knives? I recently added a Mnandi to my collection (now consisting of a sm.reg and Mnandi...gotta start somewhere..) It was a tough decision between the Macassar Ebony Classic and African Blackwood Mnandi. In a perfect world I'd have made the same decision as you, However I opted for the sheeple knife... AND I LoVE IT!! Congrats!

Very nice! Sounds like a good one you have there, don't have a pic of a darker wood one, but maybe in a week or two...

Nope, I picked it up off of a forum member from Knifeforums. So, as far as I know, the True North inlay Sebenza is still available. If the wood looks as good as on mine, it should really have some character.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I've been carry it since it came in. All ready sold off my old small classic Sebenza to a close friend Saturday. This one's seeing pocket duty.

Hey all, Mike at BestKnives.com hooked me up with an enligh walnut small classic that is awesome. I had a desert ironwood on back order, and the eglish walnut showed up. He sent me a picture and said, "the wood is really wow." He was right. It was a pleasure doing business with him. I think the dark woods fair better on the classic inlays. I have sent a few back becasue I was not happy with the way he inlays looked once I saw them in the flesh, but this one is a keeper. I have a nice pic but can not post it with a basic membership.

Just a brief update.

Well, I've carried it about everyday at work and home since I got it. It's been used pretty hard at times. About the only signs of use are some scratches on the blade and titanium handle. The wood is still in great shape. Surprisingly I can't see any dings, gouges or scratches in the wood. The S30V holds an edge well and has not noticeably rolled or chipped during heavy use. It's also pretty easy to put a razor edge on. After opening it numerous times over the last six months (+) it is buttery smooth when opening and it still has absolutely NO blade play. The frame lock engages the tang in the same place as when I purchased it. Well, it may engage approximately .001" to .002" farther over. I'll have to mic it w/ some dials to tell for sure. It's still a solid little beast.

If I can be without it for a couple weeks, I think it's time to send it in for double thumb studs. They made all the difference in the world on my large plain classic.

At this point, if I could only keep one pocket knife, this would be the one. All in all, I couldn't be more pleased w/ my sebenza.
