Anyone know who makes a good Small Game/Bird knife? I think that is the correct name - It has a long thin clip blade and a gutting hook. I think Remington makes one, with Delrin handle. Wondered if any bird hunters out there know of any good quality ones? Also do they work?

my son has a remington and it does ok but he never uses the gut hook just his finger. The one he has also has a rem-choke tool which can be handy.the blade is 440A so its not that expensive.
The best small game knife I've used is a Neil Blackwood small game. mine has a clip point. It not only makes a great small game knife I also used it to bone out and process two deer this past season.
I believe this was neils first small game with a clip point.

I know a lot of the traditional german patterns/brands(Boker, Puma, Eye brand, etc..) include a bird hook. The downside is that these are expensive, hard to find, and heavy. Beautiful knives, though:).

I know Schrade makes a few(DU Seris, and their new bone handled ltd. editions). Camillus(Western, remington) makes this pattern as noted, and Browning, I think makes a pattern also.

HTH:).

I have the one with the choke tool (no guthook though). I haven't used it on a bird yet (can't seem to get any this year  ), but it makes a dandy EDC. BTW, the 440A blades maintain a good edge.

BTW, I heard that the proper way to use a guthook is to insert it through the anus, turn it a few times, and pull it out, removing the intestines with it. Is this true?
