Small poll on Apex ?

Of all you nice people on this forum that happen to own an Apex. How many of you had trouble getting it to work and I'm not talking about trying to sharpen cheap junk knives from Japan or the like.

Your input would be appreciated because from time to time I have trouble with mine.

Your input or suggestions are appreciated.

Can you give us some additional info about what type of "trouble"? For example, are you unable to sharpen a specific type of knife/steel and can't get it sharp, or what?

I have sharpened pocket knives, kitchen knives, tactical knives with no problem at all.

Are you soaking the stones in water for at least 30 minutes before using them?
Are you holding the knife blade on the platform without allowing it to wiggle?
Are you not applying too much pressure against the blade as you sharpen?
Are you using the correct angles?
Are you progressing from 220, 320, then 600/800 grit on the stones?

I was applying too much pressure when I started using my Apex and found that a light touch made a big difference. Your last few strokes with the extra fine stone only require a very light touch.

Also make sure your raising a burr
