I need a small sharpener to carry around when I can't get to my spyderco. Any suggestions?
Thanks Eric

Harley45: You should take a look at the Eze-Lap Model M. It is quite small, has a leather belt pouch and works very well. I think you will find it to be just what you are looking for.

Gatco Triceps.

Smokey Mountian Knife Works has a great selection of sharpeners

their web address is eknifeworks.com

I like the GI keyring sharpener -- it doesn't weigh much. I glued a strip of latigo leather to one side of the plastic case and I rub in some tripoli compound once in a while.

You can get them in army surplus stores and camping stores -- olive green plastic case with an aluminum oxide hone inside. You take the top off and put it on the bottom so you have something to hold onto. With a big knife you can hold the knife still and move the hone in circular motions. It works well for something so small and light -- and it's cheap, too.

The Gatco works on non-serrated blades too.

Lansky has a series of hones like the Gatco one that were made to sharpen specific serration patterns- EVEN COLD STEEL! Just FYI.

Yes Crayola, the Lanskey Dogbone shapener is
great. It's about 4" long and has rubber ends
to protect the tri-section ceramic hone.
It has a groove for darts and other points also.
I find that it puts on great edge if
it is kept clean. Only about $3.00

THanks

As Crayola said, the Gatco works on non-serrated as well. The picture makes it hard to see, but the stone is a triangular shaped piece. You can use the corners of the triangle for serrations, and the sides of the triangle for the non-serrated blades.
