snakewood hunter

I really like it. The wood looks great on it but I don't know if I could bring myself to use such a beauty as a hunter. I know snakewood is hard to work with, but how durable is it?

well from workihg that piece it should hold with the best of them. anyone have field exsperence with snakewood?

You really don't want to know the answer, but here it is anywho.

It sucks for field use. There is something about its grain structure that causes it to crack with the slightest movement. I would not use it on a field knife unless it is stabilized. I have had several hunters crack. I have also used it on custom pen bodies, every time I used non stabilized stock they split. For display it seems to hold up fine (so long as it is at least 1/8th").

Got that Bocote stock for ya BTW. And I will e-mail the Cal Knives info later tonight.
