Got this idea to use teflon spray paint from Forty Blade who used a similar product on his machetes. This version is made for snow blowers so I was able to find it locally for $8 or so.
It's a graphite spray paint. Gives you a black powder coating look. Tactical in appearance, not traditional. Will blue the ones I want to keep traditional in appearance.
Put it on a CS Trailhawk a few days back and ran it through it's paces today. I was worried that it would flake off or wear too quick. However, after a short test (50 whacks or so into green hard wood) it is holding up well and does seem to let it cut a bit better. More than anything it doesn't seem to get stuck nearly as much which is nice.
Gives a nice look and does seem to improve performance a bit. Worth a try if you can get it where you are and want a black powder finish.
