Sod Buster with a Lanyard hole?

I was just looking at Ed T's post about Sod Busters and would really like one with a lanyard hole. Are there any Manufacturers that make them with a lanyard hole or does anyone have a custom with the hole they would like to show? Or is the design just not able to have a lanyard hole?

I've not seen one with a lanyard hole. The handle shape/length would have to be modified. There are other ways to skin that cat. ;)

I see no reason why the rear pin couldn't be replaced with a hollow tube. I did that with this Normark...

I've been thinking about this, since I usually carry my Sodbuster Jr. in a small watch pocket and a lanyard would make it a lot easier to take it out. I don't think there's room to drill a lanyard hole, but a bail could be added.

I was thinking about drilling out the last pin and installing a bail. Either a pinned one like on the AG Russell Premium scout or one that goes into a hollow rivet like on the Wenger SI or Case Scout

I got this Case Jr. taken apart....not much room for a lanyard tube...but the bail idea might work...

I was going to recommend the EKA Swede 88, but the compact, being a slipjoint is an even better choice. The 88 comes with a nice leather lanyard, does the compact?

I'm not sure as I don't have one myself. I just found it browsing on Ragnar's site and was thinking of picking one up the next time I order something. I like the look of the 88's too. There's something about the simplicity of the wood handles that's very appealing.

That's funny that you started this thread STDK; I was just thinking about this same idea recently. A Sod Buster (or slipjoint in general) with a lanyard hole. One of the things I like about SAKs is the ease of attaching a lanyard, but the only non-SAK slipjoint that I have with the means to attach a lanyard is a 1979 Case yellow pen knife with a bail.

If anyone can point me to makers or manufacturers who make slipjoints that also have lanyard holes or bails, I would appreciate it!

Those are colorful. Anyone else notice the humongousness of the handle to blade ratio. Proof that you can put a lanyard hole in anything if you make the handle big enough. :D

Definately a handful, but probably designed as a sort of utility/fishing type of knife, Would probably be a great rope cutter.

Agreed...everything doesn't have to be a perfect, custom-like investment. There's a lot to be said for pure utility and those look like they fit the bill.

Eka's swedish heritage tends to push them towards bigger handles for use and smaller blades for fine work. They don't really get into maximum blade for handle, just good handles, then size the blade for the use of the knife. They have been making those ergo-rounded handles on a variety of knives for awhile. A very good knife for the money. Steel is excellent.

Queen's #3 mountain man comes with a lanyard hole in amber stag bone or gray birdseye maple, with a lockback or as a conventional slippie. They're about the same size as the large soddie. Tough, too, in D2 steel.

That Keith Johnson is nice! Just about perfect.
I like that blade shape on the Gene Ingram - nice trio there neil!

I did not realize the Queen Mountain Man came in slipjoint configuration also. Very cool.
