Greetings,
Anyone have a link or source for high quality solid brass snap rivets for knife handles. The ones I have been using from Tandy are cheap looking and really does not represent the final product I would like to showcase. Any links or advice would be appreciated.

Dennis, I'm sorry, I don't even know what a snap rivet is. I know snaps, and I know rivets, but not snap rivets. Please post a photo or a link to a photo of what you are talking about. In the meantime you could check out Ohio Travel Bag. They would be as likely to have what you want as any one.

Good luck

Thanks Paul for correcting me.

I guess you are correct, I do not know what I want. I do know that the snap fasteners I use from Tandy are really cheap and take away from the quality of my sheaths. See attached sheath, one of the first made.

I am looking for a solid brass or high quality snap fasteners, similar on a pair of jeans, but usable for securing knives into sheaths. I am hoping for some recommendations from the sheath specialists what they use.

I hope I described what I am looking for in more detail.

Hi Dennis

I found a couple of findings places out your way but neither have websites, here's the info. Stampede Boot Co
1439 10 Avenue SE,
Calgary, AB
T2G 0X1
Canada
(403) 264-1084

Royal Leather and Shoe Supplies
Calgary, AB

You could also call Capital findings in Toronto, they used to handle a huge line, now much smaller operation.

Regards

Robin

Okay, the retention strap is secured by what appears to be a line 20 snap and the two corners at the mouth have what appears to be rapid rivets. Both are available in SOLID BRASS from Ohio Travel Bag. The line 20 snaps are not cheap as they are sold by each of the four component pieces. I'd recommend you choose the double cap rivets as they look nice on both sides. The two rivets are really not necessary at all if you will back stitch those corners two or three stitches. You'll get a much more professional look and it will be just as strong.

Good luck.

Paul
