I was about to cast my vote for the Sprint Lum Chinese Folder color then noticed the ? for Solid vs. Laminated ZDP....I've searched this forum for Pros and Cons of Solid vs Laminated ZDP189 but can't find any info...Won't the solid ZDP have more of a tendency to microchip like S30V if it doesn't have the "softer" laminations? Will the Solid ZDP cost more? Appreciate any insight into these "burning" questions.

I am no expert on theZDP-189 but from what I have read it does not chip(which they find hard to believe but true) and I really can't figure out why the laminations as should it chip the sharp area is exposed and that is where the chip would occur. I think the laminations are for flexibilty rather for chipping problems. My $.02 cents.

Laminated costs less to work with than solid. Laminated ZDP sheet can be stamped to form the rough blade blank. Solid ZDP has to be laser cut, one blade at a time.

I don't know the difference in cost between laminated sheet and solid sheet.

Thanks 4 the replies guys...if the blue Delica is gonna be solid zdp189 then just for another "flavor" maybe opt for the Lum Chinese Folder to have the ATS34 laminates since we got the CallyJr with 420J laminates already...
