Rick Fields passed away on January 31st according to a friend that posted on TKCL.
I know he will be missed by many collectors and makers.

Rick will be remembered for his kindness and his beautiful scrimshaw work as well as the ivory he supplied to a lot of folks (including me on a couple of occasions.)

This is really sad news !
I know that he will be missed among both scrimshanders , knifemakers and collectors . He was a big source for inspiration and was greatly admired by Viveca Sahlin , swedish scrimshander .
He will surely be missed !

Rick will surely be missed. If you've never seen his work, make it a point to do so. Spectacular is the word. He was also a supplier of Mammoth Ivory and I dealt with him on several occasions. He always took the time to find what I wanted. Goodbye, Rick.

A great loss. I will always remember his wild west scenes which captured subjects such as buffalo and trains.

Sorry to hear about Mr Fields. He had some of the best scrim I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. A true artist who will be sorely missed.
