Somebody fill me in: did REKAT die out?

Yes, they're gone. I know this, because every knife outlet I've contacted tells me they are. :) I was trying to buy a Hobbit Warrior at the time.

What surprises me, is they gave no warning. The web domain has been bought by someone else, the phones were shut off, emails went unanswered. Part of it I suspect was the fact they were unready for the critical reviews they got when their knife lock failed. Not all the time, but enough that people here were taking them to task about it.

You shouldn't promote yourself as the stongest knife lock out there and then be surprised when people try to duplicate your tests...
 
Last I heard, they claimed to be working on the Tool part of Round Eye Knife and Tool. What kind of tools they won't say.

The rumor I heard was that Les over at Benchmade bought the rights to the Rolling Lock. My source is normally pretty reliable, so until I hear otherwise I'm believing that story. I also heard that they are going to concentrate on the "Tool" part of REKAT.
