Yup,

I am a leftie looking for a good one-hand folder. Any suggestions?

I got a few in mind, just wondering what yall think. Blade length has to be less than or equal to 5".

Good luck with that. It's a tough haul for southpaws.

I've been looking around for a while, and there are some options. I believe REKAT and Kershaw had lefties for a few of their models and the CRKT Mirage was also leftified. I think you'll have the most success with Kershaw these days.

Emerson also makes a lefty Commander, but you'll probably have to order it directly. The only site I saw that carries them is www.uhartrescue.com, but I can't find much on 'em.

If you're willing, most custom makers will make you a lefty as well. Some of them are lefties too and can sympathize. I think that Mayo guy uses the hand of the Devil.

There are quite a few lefties on the forums that have a lot more information. Hopefully they'll drop by with some tips.

The LH small Sebenza is my favorite LH knife.

The BM Axis knives are very nice too.

I am a lefty as well and the Benchmade 710 axis-lock is the answer to all your woes. This knife is totally ambidextrious and once you try it you'll be one happy camper. The only problem I've found with this knife is that its raised my standards in knives so I don't seem to buy as many as before, so now I have all this "knife Money" laying around and if it keeps adding up I'm going to have to buy a William Henry Icon for Sundays as it too is totally ambi. Buy the 710 you won't regret it.
Best of luck Mike :D :D :D

Production or Custom...that is the question. Most "leftie" production models are actually ambis. Most of us do seem to be fans of the Kershaw Task knives..but alas they have been discontinued. Try AZ blades,(www.azblades.com) I think they might have one or two left, but they're partially serrated:( . Most, but not all of the BM axis locks work for a leftie, but except for the Ares, the Elishwitz knives do not:barf:. The Wm Henry Evolution series will work if you don't mind a righty liner lock. I've been underwhelmed, no GROSSLY underwhelmed with the small leftie Sebenza I just got. Spend a little more and get a REAL custom. John Kubasek and Fred Durio make some VERY nice leftie folders...BUT THEY AIN'T CHEAP:eek: . Depending on embellishment $400 to $600. But it's a helluva lot better than almost $400 for a plain Sebbie:D

Not only am I a natural leftie, but I can't use my right hand for much of anything for a while...

Benchmade Axis lock knives are ambidextrous, and many spyderco's with lockbacks and reversible clips are lefty friendly. That's what I'm using for a few weeks...

I have the Bench Made 710 SBT, with the black teflon coated blade. This knife should be the first and last truly ambi folder I will have to buy. The clip switches to either side.

You only need thumb pressure pushing forward to flip it open, so no BS with flicking or having to restage it in your hand. The axis lock allows for one-handed closure.

well...

my lefty Tom Mayo TNT is the top of my list :p :p :p

many other custom makers produce left handed knives

axis lock works well, benchmade used to make a few lefty liner locks but apparently no longer. I know Emerson does but they are factory direct only and on the pricey side.. Camillus used to have a few left handed cudas as well.

Chris Reeve makes a variety of left handers, very nice knives

come to think of it lock backs and slip joints work well with either hand!!!

Tom Anderson makes terrific looking knives (wish I had one...) And, he tells me, since his brother is left handed, he'll make any of his knives in lefty. What a guy! I met him at last year's SECK show in Winston-Salem. You ought to look him up!
