Here is a beautiful knife from Ed Caffrey. Spiders 'n Snakes Damascus forged by Ed, scales of Paua shell. OAL 7" blade length 3 1/2". It is designed, according to Ed to be a purse knife. I think it is exactly the thing my daughter will love.

With apologies for my poor photography, the dark vertical line between the choil and scale is the name 'Caffrey' stamped rather deeply. It is not a defect.

That looks like a wonderful little knife Walt. The damascus pattern is really amazing. And the scales are gorgeous. I guess I need to start talking to Ed about My next Caffrey knife...

Terrific knife, Walt. Ordinarily, I find that damascus paired with paua makes the knife look "busy". But I think that the Spiders & Snakes pattern really nails it. Is that paua shell carved?

Really nice. Your daughter be one lucky girl!

WOW!....not a criticism...but it really should have a pivot pin!

hope you made it safely past the turkey choosing walt!!

Brian; yes the Paua shell is carved. Further, the damascus is actually much nicer than the pic shows. I had a devil of a time lighting the knife so that the Paua shell would look lively; couldn't get both scales and blade to be properly illuminated, so concentrated primarily on the scales.

Tom; funny, you and I agree on something for once

. I actually thought the knife WAS a folder for quite some time, generating some humerous e-mail exchanges between Ed and me.

It is a fine little knife.
